The city is home to several prominent educational institutions, including Cégep Édouard-Montpetit and the École nationale d’aérotechnique. It also hosts satellite campuses of several major universities, such as the Université de Montréal, Université du Québec à Montréal, Université de Sherbrooke, and Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières.

Additionally, Longueuil has its own public transportation system, the STL (Longueuil Transportation System), making it a convenient and accessible place to live and study.

Les villes sur la rive-sud que nous desservons et leurs particularités

Auteuil

The Auteuil district, located north of Laval, is bordered to the northwest by the Rivière des Mille-Îles, to the northeast by Saint-François, to the southeast by Duvernay, and to the south by Vimont. It consists mainly of agricultural land, wooded areas, and residential neighborhoods. Major traffic routes include Boulevard des Laurentides, Boulevard Sainte-Rose, Boulevard des Perron, Boulevard des Mille-Îles, Avenue des Terrasses, Avenue des Lacasse, and Avenue Papineau.

Chomedey

Chomedey is the most populous neighborhood in the city of Laval and is home to the vast majority of Laval's cultural communities. It is also the location of Carrefour Laval, the third-largest shopping center in Quebec, as well as downtown Laval, known as Centropolis.

Duvernay

The Duvernay district was founded on May 12, 1968, in honor of Ludger Duvernay. Located to the east of the city of Laval, it surrounds the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul district. Today, Duvernay is divided into three distinct areas: Duvernay-Ouest, Duvernay-Nord, and Duvernay-Est.

Fabreville

Named in honor of Édouard-Charles Fabre, Fabreville was originally founded as a municipality on December 5, 1968, before becoming a neighborhood in the city of Laval. In 2011, Fabreville had nearly 46,000 inhabitants. It is bordered by the Rivière des Mille Îles to the northwest, Sainte-Rose to the northeast, Chomedey to the southeast, Sainte-Dorothée to the south, and Laval-Ouest to the southwest.

Laval-des-Rapides

Now a neighborhood, Laval-des-Rapides was an independent city until 1912, later became the Cité de l'Île Jésus in 1962, and is now one of Laval's most prominent districts. Over the past 50 years, its population has doubled.

Laval-Ouest

Laval-Ouest is home to the Hartland-Monahan Arena, the Raymond Pool, and Laval-Ouest Park. The neighborhood is bordered by Fabreville to the northeast, Sainte-Dorothée to the southeast, Laval-sur-le-Lac to the southwest, and the Rivière des Mille Îles to the northwest. On the other shore, we find Saint-Eustache and Deux-Montagnes.

Pont-Viau

Pont-Viau takes its name from the bridge that crosses the Rivière des Prairies at the height of the district. The name itself comes from the first settler of the area, Christophe Viau. Today, the neighborhood is lively with numerous shops lining Boulevard des Laurentides and Boulevard de la Concorde.

Sainte-Dorothée

Sainte-Dorothée was named after Dorothée de Césarée. Now a district of Laval, it is bordered by Laval-sur-le-Lac to the west, Laval-Ouest to the northwest, Fabreville to the northeast, Chomedey to the east, as well as Îles-Laval and the Rivière des Prairies. The district is located west of Highway 13.

Sainte-Rose

When the City of Laval was founded in 1965, the former city of Sainte-Rose became one of its neighborhoods. It is the fourth most populous neighborhood on Île Jésus. Sainte-Rose was named in honor of Saint Rose of Lima. Today, it is a residential area served by public transportation, including the Saint-Jérôme suburban train, which connects to downtown Montreal.

Saint-François

Named in honor of Blessed François de Sales, the Saint-François district—formerly called Saint-François-de-Sales—is now a neighborhood primarily composed of agricultural fields and woodlands in the city of Laval. Located at the easternmost part of Île Jésus, the district is bordered by the Rivière des Mille Îles to the north, the Rivière des Prairies to the southeast, and the districts of Auteuil to the west and Duvernay to the south.
